Come and be encouraged, grow in your faith, and experience the love of Christ in our community. All are welcome — and we can't wait to see you.
"With God All Things Are Possible."
Word of Life Christian Fellowship was founded by Senior Pastor Dr. Smith. The church was incorporated in 2000 and the congregation originally worshipped in Bowie, MD, but relocated to Aberdeen, MD, in 2006.
Word of Life Christian Fellowship is non‑denominational, which simply means our focus stays on Scripture and on people — not on labels. We are a multicultural and multi‑racial congregation. We'd love nothing more than to see you walk through our doors.
Whoever you are, whatever kept you away, you are welcome here. So many of us spent the last couple of years watching church from a couch, and something quietly got lost in that. Missing a room full of real people, the handshake before service, the person praying next to you, the kids running around after service. We are still here, meeting every Sunday at 10:00 AM.. It's time to come back into the church!
Dr. Smith served as a senior pastor in a major denomination from 1985 to 2000.
He served as a senior pastor of congregations in Williamsburg, VA; Cape Charles, VA; Norfolk, VA; and Easton, MD. He earned his Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA, in 1993 and Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH, in 1998. Dr. Smith also served on a dissertation committee for a doctoral student at Argosy University.
Dr. Smith is happily married to ILona Smith, a citizen of the United Kingdom. They have five daughters and six grandchildren.
Dr. Smith has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA and retired from the federal government in 2017 after 37 years of service. His last position held was the Director of the Office of Professional Responsibility, where he supervised a staff of investigators.
Since our founding, these goals have guided everything we do as a fellowship.
To help people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
To spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through the proclamation of God's Word.
To teach the Word of God and provide insight so that transformation may occur in the lives of people.
To place a special emphasis on the work of evangelism.
To provide fellowship opportunities similar to the First Century church.
To help the poor and oppressed of the earth to become self‑sufficient.
To equip fellow believers for Christian service.
To illustrate and demonstrate the benefits from obeying God's Word.
As a non‑denominational fellowship, we hold to the core truths of the Christian faith and leave room for the Holy Spirit to work in every heart that walks through our doors.
We believe the Bible is God's living Word — the foundation for everything we teach and how we live.
Salvation is a gift through Jesus Christ, Romans Chapter 10 verse 9: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Church isn't a service you attend, it's a family and a hospital.
Whether you grew up in church or have never set foot in one, our door swings open the same way for you.
The New Testament commands us to go into all the world and preach the gospel. In obedience to that call, here's where we're active in Aberdeen and beyond — and where you can plug in.
Community outreach right here in Aberdeen, meeting our neighbors where they are.
A safe, joyful space for the next generation to know God's Word every single Sunday.
We're meeting every week, in person, at 10:00 AM. If it's been a while — or if this is your first time ever — the door is open and there's a seat with your name on it.
